System Engineer L1 / System Engineer L2

Lumen21 is looking for a highly skilled, self-motivated System Engineer to join our fast-paced cloud computing environment. Being a member of the system Team, you will be at the forefront of newer technology, assisting our clients with growing a set of services and features to run their mission-critical applications.

Day in a Life at Lumen21

This position requires you to work rotational shifts, e.g., 07:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m. or 03:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m. to 08:00 a.m. IST. Once you start your day in shift, you will have communication with your Manager to go over the day’s priorities. Your Manager will assign tasks to you, providing you with information about the current project and client details. As a System Engineer, you may also coach/mentor new hires, develop and present training, partner with development teams on complex issues, write tools/script to help the team, or work with leadership on process improvement and strategic initiatives.

Job Requirement

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation as it relates to server and network topology, equipment, and configuration(s).
  • Create project plans, design, and implement solutions.
  • Level 1 Support for problems identified with systems and network. Will act as an escalation for Level 2 and Level 3 Managed Services support technicians and work with Service Desk Lead on a day to day basis.
  • Create, request, and present technical specifications and requirements for purchasing of new servers and networking equipment via quote procedure.
  • Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed.
  • Standard system administration duties including server install, System/Application install and patch management, Windows problem determination and resolution, log analysis, etc.
  • Configure, test, and maintain LAN equipment and services, including switches, routers, firewalls and VPN.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems including network connectivity, traffic utilization, etc. using available network tools in a timely fashion.
  • Provide Infrastructure services in all areas needed: storage networking, Operating System, network security, directory services, server virtualization using system backup and restore, system and network monitoring, application installation and configuration.
  • Assist with monthly reports, and recommendations for Managed Services Clients.
  • Interface with third party vendors as liaison between client and vendor.
  • Utilize superior customer service skills.
  • Stay current with system information, changes, and updates.

Desired Candidate

  • Candidates should be team players with excellent communication skills and have the ability to manage assignments independently. The ideal candidate will have a nurturing personality and the desire to help in the development and mentoring of level 1 technicians.
  • 3+ years of prior IT experience. Prior experience working for a service provider or consulting firm is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone or in person.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes in handling difficult situations and work with various customers and management levels.
  • Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Shows initiative and acts independently to resolve problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on projects to completion.
  • Works effectively both as a team member and independently.
  • Effectively utilizes tools to resolve issues and escalates appropriately.
  • Network configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting experience are a must.
  • Experience working with Windows 2012R2, 2016, VMware, Hyper-V, Storage Technologies.
  • Cloud Computing experience is a must related to AWS, Azure and Office 365.
  • Microsoft certifications a plus.
  • CCNA certification a plus.
  • Hands on experience with Wired and Wireless networking, PC and server virtualization software, virus protection, backup systems.
  • Proven background of providing great customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritizes existing projects, and proactively determine areas requiring additional attention, monitoring, or maintenance.
  • Strong verbal, and written skills Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Pay & Benefit

Lumen21 will pay the salary on a monthly basis. We have a different salary structure; we concentrate on employee’s gross net wage regardless of total CTC. Apart from total CTC, the company has other employee benefit programs which include Gratuity scheme, Mediclaim with value-added services, Year Completion Awards, Employee Referral Schemes etc. As part of an organization training and development program, we provide training on the latest product, services which are launched in IT sector.
